As a local magistrate, Yūrei’s father bore the weight of overseeing the governance of his district, administering laws, settling disputes, and maintaining order. The family held a position of privilege, but this came with the pressure to maintain an impeccable image and adhere to stringent moral codes. Consequently, the family avoided any hint of scandal, which bred a focus on appearances. Yūrei’s childhood was steeped in a carefully curated façade, a veneer of perfection that masked deep instability. It was marked by an erratic cycle of neglect and overindulgence. To preserve their public image, his parents lavished him with extravagant gifts, fine clothing, and elite tutoring, but these gestures rang hollow.Despite — or perhaps because of — the crushing weight of high expectations and the constant demand to uphold the family’s status, Yūrei found himself constantly exploring the edge of what he could get away with, venturing beyond the lines of the limitations forced upon him. The rigid discipline was meant to shape him into a paragon of propriety, instead, it sparked defiance. The young man’s fascination with vampirism began as whispers carried on the winds of expanding trade routes and the unsettling rise of local murders and disappearances. Meetings took place more frequently, and despite Yūrei’s role as heir, his father often excluded him from the discussions. But he was far too stubborn to sit idly, and so he scoured every manuscript he could find, devoting countless hours to ancient texts, religious doctrines, and forbidden tomes. Before long, he was able to piece together patterns from the few gruesome crime scenes he witnessed. The victims were found drained of blood, their bodies bearing wounds that seemed beyond the work of any human or animal.

What began as intellectual curiosity morphed into an obsession; the promise of immortality offered more than just freedom, it transcended human frailty. The very concept captivated him. So, driven by his growing fascination, Yūrei delved into extensive research and ultimately tracked down a vampire, Daisuke, to a rooftop bar in Seoul. He didn’t make a scene, nor did he verbally confront him. Instead, he offered him a pleasant conversation and a drink laced with vervain, a plant that acted as a toxin. When Yūrei’s suspicions were confirmed, the guarded exchange gave way to something deeper and more complex. Their meetings grew more frequent, each rendez-vous more intimate than the last. As time went by, it became evident that the man had fallen for his charm. With a false promise of eternal love, he finally convinced the vampire to turn him, despite his initial refusal. But Yūrei didn’t stick around to play the part of the devoted lover.

Many harboured a centuries old feud with his kind. Some even formed a coalition, composed of witches and hunters. They sought to protect the balance of power by capturing and experimenting on supernatural beings. Their methods were brutal, their purpose shrouded in righteousness, and their gaze eventually fell on Yūrei. Their plans for him were simple: switch his need for human blood with a thirst for vampire blood. They wanted to alter his physiology, to turn him into a weapon designed to hunt his own, breaking him down and rebuilding him as their perfect predator. For seven long years of captivity, Yūrei endured an unrelenting regimen of physical and psychological torment. Every conceivable limit was tested as their “experiments” pushed the boundaries of his healing and subjected him to dark alchemical procedures. Outdoor trials were enforced, as part of their efforts to condition him.

Escaping was anything but easy. After years of feigning compliance and gradually earning their trust, Yūrei seized his chance during one of their outdoor missions. He managed to evade the locator spells, and once he was beyond their reach, he ensured he didn’t linger in any one place long enough for them to catch up. Yet, their grip on him was far from loose — lasting enchantments branded his body, forcing him to rely on vampire blood for survival. These sigils, etched into the backs of his hands and down his spine, form a constant reminder of his altered condition. Each fast brought unbearable pain, vivid hallucinations, and uncontrollable rage.

Yūrei’s art galleries, collectively branded as “Orion Galleries”, are both a chain of elite art spaces and covert sanctuaries for the supernatural. Spanning cities like Seoul, New York, and Paris, each location is meticulously curated to reflect a fusion of timeless elegance and contemporary edge. The art itself mostly features avant-garde pieces, creating an environment that attracts art connoisseurs and the curious wealthy. However, the true exclusivity of Orion lies in its VIP lounges — access points to the supernatural underworld, open only to those who donate a sample of their blood.

Currently based in Seoul, Yūrei’s nights are spent alternating between mingling with high-profile guests at Orion, supervising auctions, and indulging in private meetings with sponsors. Feeding is a part of his allure; he often selects his “donors” from patrons who seek a more intimate experience. His life, much like his galleries, is curated to perfection. At least on the surface.

Year of birth1894 - 131 years old. Appears to be in his mid-twenties.
Pronouns & preferencesHe/him. Bisexual (feminine lean). Aromantic.
AppearanceHe's 6'2", black hair, dark brown eyes, multiple piercings. He frequently wears rings, necklaces, and other jewellery. Scars in forms of sigils, located on the back of his hands and down his spine, appear whenever he doesn’t feed on vampire blood for a while. Muscular, defined build. His fangs are longer and sharper than the average. His main prey is an immortal predator, so his body adjusted accordingly.
PersonalityYūrei masks his ill intentions with a disarming, almost playful demeanour. He definitely knows how to have a good time, but he is not a friendly character. He is opportunistic and views interpersonal relationships as purely transactional. As previously stated, please refrain from presuming an intimacy that does not exist. Yūrei is extremely picky about those he trusts, notably due to his paranoia. But despite that, he is extroverted, and he doesn’t mind being the centre of attention. He's often described as impulsive and provocative.
Clothing styleHis colour palette (dusty grey, black, white, wine red, silver, dark brown, and hints of dark olive green) complements fabrics like leather, silk, suede, satin, fine wool, cashmere, and cotton, with the occasional touch of denim. Accessories play a key role, featuring silver and gunmetal, adorned with rings, small hoops or studs for his piercings, and layered chain necklaces and bracelets. He gravitates toward elevated pieces and isn’t afraid to show a little skin.
PerfumeThe fragrance opens with an icy, green freshness, underscored by the bitter edge of absinthe and the sharp bite of black pepper. As it unfolds, cold incense and orris root bring a smoky, ghostly softness, while dark cedarwood and leather deepen the scent with a dark, earthy richness. This blend captures a cool, smoky elegance—fresh, crisp, and timeless.

TL;DR...  After turning into a vampire, Yūrei was captured by a coalition of witches and hunters that aimed to restore the balance of nature. The goal was to have him hunt other vampires on their behalf, in efforts to control their numbers. Eventually, he escaped after years of being locked up in a cell, but the damages he sustained in captivity were irreversible. Now, Yūrei manages a chain of luxurious art galleries — branded as “Orion Galleries” — around the globe.
